The Royal Professional Organization of Judicial Officers was duly incorporated in the Law on Judicial Officers which went into force on 15 July 2001. In the Netherlands all judicial officers are required to affiliate to the Royal Professional Organization of Judicial Officers.
The Royal Professional Organization of Judicial Officers has the task to preserve the prestige, dignity and rights of the judicial officers, to take care that judicial officers act with conscience and in accordance with the law and to promote the professional qualifications of judicial officers.
The service of judicial and extrajudicial documents in the Netherlands
The Dutch Judicial Officers are both receiving and transmitting agency for the Netherlands pursuant to European Council Regulation 1393/2007 of 13 November 2007 on the Service of Judicial or Extrajudicial Documents in the Member States in Civil and Commercial Matters.
The request for service of documents in The Netherlands can therefore be send directly to a Judicial Officer's office. To locate and contact a Judicial Officer, please check the top right of this page.
The request form for service of documents has to be in Dutch, English or in German language.
The assistance of the Royal Professional Organization of Judicial Officers, is limited to the exceptional circumstances as defined in article 3(c) of the aforementioned European Union Regulation only.
