Welcome to the site of the Royal Professional Organisation of Judicial Officers in The Netherlands

The Royal Professional Organisation of Judicial Officers (the Koninklijke Beroepsorganisatie van Gerechtsdeurwaarders or KBvG) was duly incorporated in the Judicial Officers Act which became effective on 15 July 2001. The law has charged the KBvG – which all judicial officers in The Netherlands are required to join - with the task of fostering good practices within the profession.

The service of judicial and extrajudicial documents in the Netherlands

The Dutch Judicial Officers are the receiving and transmitting agency for the Netherlands pursuant to European Council Regulation 1348/2000 of 29 May 2000 on the Service of Judicial or Extrajudicial Documents in the Member States in Civil and Commercial Matters. Documents which must be served in the Netherlands must be sent directly to one of the judicial officers.

A request for service must be submitted in Dutch or in English. On the right side of this page you will find a search engine to find the judicial officers in your area.

It is not possible to send a request for service to the Dutch central body, the Royal Professional Organisation of Judicial Officers, and its aid can only be requested in the exceptional circumstances defined in article 3(c) of the aforementioned European Regulation.
